Updates on AFP efforts in preparation for typhoon Yolanda Adams Naval Forces Southern Luzon preparation: The Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) dispatched one (1) M35 Truck with one (1) DRO team to augment in prepositioning of relief goods (rice) aboard Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO). Another team with DRO trailer equipped with diving gears, rubber boats, portable generator and squad tents that might be utilized in disaster response. Likewise, NAVFORSOL coordinated with LGUs and barangays on their preparations and help nearby barangays in cutting trees and eliminate hazards in the area. Last night, NAVFORSOL was able to preposition more or less 10,000 sacks of rice to different municipalities in Albay and was able to pack more or less 35,000 relief goods together with other uniformed services and civilian volunteers. As of yesterday Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Operation Center at APSEMO was already activated. Likewise, NAVFORSOL officers are now attending coordinating meeting at RDRRMC conference room at Office of Civil Defense 5 (OCD5) to talk about tactical actions. Further, this morning NAVFORSOL dispatched another DRRT composed of 1 officer and 15 personnel including 2 drivers and escorts and 2 M35 trucks for prepositioning of relief goods and for preemptive evacuation especially to low lying areas in the province upon signal of the Chairman of RDRRMC and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council. Philippine Navy preparations for typhoon Yolanda: The Philippine Navy through respective Unified Commands placed on alert all DRRTs of Naval Forces and ready for deployment. The navy also directed all floating assets to prepare and take necessary precautionary measures for the upcoming typhoon.
