Updating History If war breaks out between Russia and the West history will begin with Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea. The provocative antecedents of NATO and the EU seeking to encroach on Russia’s Western border will be totally ignored or even deliberately omitted. America recognizes Russia has legitimate security concerns. Obama has said so. But refuses to act in a reassuring way. In the Cuban missile crisis Russian president Nikita Khrushchev positioned nuclear missiles in the territory of its ally, Cuba, 300 miles off Florida. President John Kennedy threatened to invade Cuba. This invasion of a sovereign country would have been an outright violation of international law. Yet he was going to invade if Russia (USSR) came too close. This is just what Putin has done though they continue to deny the invasion force was not Russian. President Bush was quite sensible when he modified the Missile Shield program that was to shoot down ballistic missiles aimed at the U.S because it involved placing missiles in Poland, a Russian neighbor. The fact is that the U.S and Russia could not tolerate a development that would alter the balance of power between the two countries with reacting to nullify a new disadvantage. From events happening right before our eyes we can see that the history of the second and war as told by the victors is incomplete. When at Versailles the Allied powers dismembered the country with the largest population in Europe, Germany, gifting away its territories and placing a huge debt on it there was a huge chance that a German nationalist would rise and refuse to pay. And also fight to get back their lands. This is the cause of the Second World War. And the reason for the rise of murderous Adolf Hitler. A more complete history.
