Updating my thoughts on affiliate stuff: The thing that bothers me about affiliate stuff is when people get hooked into the moolah without integrity. By that I mean that even after they start feeling like things are wonk, they still flog the thing that gets them the affiliate commission. Affiliate stuff works for me ONLY if I totally love the product OR its how I get paid for teaching. Example: as a Life Book teacher, I get paid when you buy Life Book through my link. That works. If Im teaching in LB, obviously, I believe in it. I love SoulLodge, so theres a button for it on my website. I get a percentage of sales that go through that link. I am totally in my integrity around having that button on my site because I believe in SouLodge. I love it. If I stopped loving it, I would remove the button. There are things Ive promoted in the past that I no longer promote because things started to feel wonk. I do this quietly. I dont say I NO LONGER PROMOTE SUCH AND SUCH BECAUSE IT FEELS WONK. I just stop promoting it. Period. Integrity is important to me. I like affiliate stuff when its used in a way that honours integrity. I dislike it, however, when I get fifteen emails from someone who is yelling at me about how much I need this thing that they didnt even create. That bugs me. I tend to unsubscribe from those newsletters. So, affiliate stuff. Yes, when integrity. No, when just flogging for extra moolah with no real passion for the product. No, when affiliate stuff takes over your actual content/offerings in the world.
