Upon discussing with a Christian Educator the reason Christianity has so many denominations is because they lack the foundation of the TaNaKh, he responded the following (name withheld): For whatever its worth, Mac - the TaNaKh is not viewed as authoritative in the arena of Christianity. We affirm Scripture as the only authoritative, inspired, qualified source for truth in our lives - so quoting the TaNaKh as a resource is about as authoritative as quoting from Little Bo Peep...particularly because much of what is found is based solely on rabbinical tradition...and, some of that was distributed orally. Why would you consider that to be a source for reference data in a forum which holds to Scripture as its source for truth?
