Upon his noble brow rested a bejeweled crown of finely polished - TopicsExpress

Upon his noble brow rested a bejeweled crown of finely polished beaten gold. Beset with emeralds and sapphires of incalculable worth. Ancient runes were intricately and elegantly carved in two unique languages, running opposite one another along the circumference. Each language shimmering in the power of their own maker. The head piece of the crown, itself was a large diamond about the size of a thumb. His hair came cascading down from under the crown in tight silvery braids down past his shoulders over the pauldrons of his polished iron plate armor. His aged face looked over the battle that unfolded before him, and his face grimaced slightly at what he saw. He barked orders to his trumpeters to commit his second unit of spearmen to fortify the center, while ordering his veteran swordsmen to the left flank to support the volunteers. He kept his cavalry off to the side and refused to commit them to battle. They were to be his deciding factors in this battle. For he had seen what these undead monstrosities could do. For they simply pressed the attack, never stopping. For if you did not simply out-right take the head off, the body would come after you. With no arms, it would bite. No legs it would crawl. He had ordered his spearmen to fight as a phalanx and go for head thrusts while the men behind, would skewer them and hopefully slow them down or immobilize them entirely. The swordsmen on the other hand, knew their job quite well and dispatched their foes with the utmost ease, having been the victors of such battles a dozen times over. The old king sighed slightly, perhaps, it was hopeless, ever since this plague had started some decades ago, he had never been able to be rid of it. It never ended it seemed. No matter how many of them he killed. Even his own dead added to the ranks of the enemy. Curse these bastards! What could they want?! Then a messenger came running up to him with a scroll. "Sire! The enemy wish to parley!" The messenger said before gasping for breath, holding the scroll out and dropping to one knee and holding the scroll out to the king who was on horseback.
