Upon the lonely road leading to the temple it was several months - TopicsExpress

Upon the lonely road leading to the temple it was several months back I met him- an old man with a bamboo basket on his head selling garlands of jasmine flowers. Unlike other flower sellers he was not shouting aloud, but there was a beautiful smile on his face that would invite someone to buy his flowers. I imagined Mother Goddess wearing that garland and without wait grabbed one that would adorn Her. When I entered the temple the priest appeared speechless but managed to utter these words – ‘I was wondering how to find a garland for Pooja as the lady who used to bring didn’t turn yet. And here you are with a garland for Her.” I looked at Mother, the majestic beauty of her wearing the fragrant jasmine flowers! Was there a smile on that face too? I don’t know, but I was smiling through my tears. With a silken dress that was bought for Her, yesterday once again I went to the temple. Sandalwood paste applied all over her body, wearing the dress that shined in the lit lamps, the very sight of her was blissful. ‘But mother, I didn’t bring a garland for you that would have added beauty to You’ – eyes closed I was feeling painful. ‘But I will bring it to you another day’, I promised her. On the brief telephonic conversation in the night, the priest in the temple told me – an old man with a bamboo basket on his head, had offered her a garland – a garland of jasmine flowers! And he was the same old man whom I met several months ago on the way. Today his mesmerising smile brings me Goosebumps and I wonder if I could meet him once again – at least to thank him! But Mother, how will I thank you for all your love for me?
