Upon this Thursday as I commence my enjoyment of the autumn - TopicsExpress

Upon this Thursday as I commence my enjoyment of the autumn sabbatical from academia, which I must reveal is all too brief for my liking in its span of a mere two days in addition to the weekend, I thought it fitting that I might share with all of you whom I am blessed to call my friends, acquaintances, and colleagues a video that recently was discovered to my attention during a music history lecture. Because we are studying music of the Renaissance, a particular favorite musical period of mine, we were asked to compare the following music to the styles of the epoch in which we were immersed. Naturally, there can be no strict comparison to one form, one discipline, or even, perhaps, one composer, but it was interesting to see that music has not been altered so much beyond its high state in the Renaissance as we might venture to suppose without greater knowledge upon the subject. Venturing from its relation to music history, I must say that this gentleman shares his talents nobly, and I wish that I could hear music like this in new arrangements more often in the church setting. They do provide an immense wealth of interest, and the text leaves one feeling inspired and filled with joy. I pray that all of you enjoy what you are about to hear if you elect to indulge. youtu.be/zpa4ifLv6BQ?list=UU9rqoXhRpbIJ2N867HeEUZQ
