Upper Dublin takes first look at 2014-15 budget The Upper Dublin School Board was presented with a preliminary $90 million budget for the 2014-15 school year at its Jan. 13 meeting. The preliminary plan includes an estimated negative fund balance of just over $1 million that would have to be eliminated. The school district would have to raise taxes by 4.5 percent in order to close the projected deficit. The Act 1 index for next year caps a tax increase at 2.1 percent, but part of the Upper Dublin preliminary plan is for the district to apply for PSERS (Public School Employees’ Retirement System) and special education exemptions of 1.21 percent and 1.19 percent, respectively. District Business Administrator Brenda Bray emphasized that the budget presented represents the upper limit for spending and said, “It is very early on, there are going to be a lot of changes.” A preliminary budget is scheduled to be adopted Feb. 10 with budget finalization set for June 11.
