Upward and onward! Ava Mae is doing better and better. They removed the tubes draining her chest this morning which is another big milestone and it looks like well be moving out of the ICU and to the step down unit this afternoon or tonight. Haven was able to bring Clara in this morning to see her sister and it made everyones day. I missed the surgeon again this morning when he came by but the nurse said she couldnt tell if he or the cardiologist were more pleased with her repair, overall progress and spunk! To be perfectly honest, we are still in disbelief at what they were able to do here in Boston. We had so many doctors give us so many bad prognoses over the past year it just doesnt seem real. I cant say enough about Ava Maes medical care at Boston Childrens Hospital. Every single part of it. Weve seen a lot of doctors and spent weeks in the hospital since our girls were born so Id say we recognize world class medical care when we see it. And the surgeon ... Pedro del Nido ... it literally brings tears to my eyes when I think about him. At this point, it looks like there will be no more daily weighing and measuring oxygen levels when we return home. We are so thankful.
