Urban Concerns Members Its been a busy two weeks work related issues, also I know many are getting back to full work schedules due to the children being back in school, this week I will be forwarding some info to all committee chairs with a synopsis of what we can do to move forward our agenda of making our communities safer through citizens involvement. I personally believe this is the best time to create structured activities for our youth we due know that schools are centralized location in which they can be engaged and inspired. We must believe right now is the prime time to open their minds to the belief Education is the key to overcoming the culture of poverty. It will be important to form alliances with mentoring programs such as the Kappa League and Royal Men Foundation . October will be declared " Education for Tomorrow Starts Today Month". We will host a series of workshops and meetings for parents to become informed on the college admissions process , Financial Aid & Scholarship Package Information, also what needs to be done to make sure our H S Athletes are qualified for college . We will also look to arrange a College & trade school Fair . Stay Tuned Action Requires Planning and Results will require Long Term Commitment . Bruce Alston Community Organizer Urban Concerns
