Urban Search and Rescue Training: Four members of LTRT-421 (Lt. Brown, Lt. Craw, Lt. Hewitt and Lt. Hazelbaker) attended search and rescue training with Task Force 4 (Central Florida) in Orlando on Sunday, December 14th. The training consisted of Lt. Hazelbaker and his search and rescue K-9, Cabela, to search for live victims in a large concrete rubble pile. Cabela successfully located both victims of the excercise in a matter of a few minutes. The training also included using search cameras and sonar equipment to locate victims. The training is valuable to the team because of the opportunity to operate equipment that LFD does not have in its cache, allows the team to train in a realistic hazardous environment, and builds relationships with other USAR members in the region.
