Urgent Prayer Request... A while back I posted a GoFundMe campaign for my wife Shawna due to her need for surgery. At the time shed had an ultrasound which showed evidence of a series of fibroids and the OB/GYN she consulted with advised she needed a hysterectomy. Though as fate would have it, that doctor didnt know the whole story. On October 1, we started on Obama Care and basically had to start over with doctors on our plan. Her new OB/GYN took a look at the ultra sound results, and along with her chronic fever since July, wisely decided a biopsy of her uterus would be a good idea and ordered a CT scan. Those tests confirmed that the fibroids are in fact made of uterine sarcoma cells. Sarcoma is an aggressive high grade cancer that generally spreads quickly. Thankfully, according to her new Oncology Gynecologist, her CT and biopsy results show no evidence of spreading outside the uterus cavity, which is to say there was no sign of lymph node enlargement or masses on other organs within the abdominal cavity to suggest it. That being said, he reiterated it was just a CT, and the only way to be sure was surgery. Therefore she is being scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks. Working under the assumption that the cancer is isolated in her uterus, they are going full invasive with a vertical incision with the intent of removing everything whole, so as not to provide any way for the sarcoma to get out. Best case scenario, theyre right, they get it all and she needs no chemo after the surgery. Worst case is the CT didnt see everything going on and something else happened, and we take another step. Right now were going with the best case scenario and are asking for prayer to that affect, that once they remove it all they will find no evidence it spread. In any case, the doctor was cautiously optimistic, even after his physical exam, that there was nothing he found to suggest anything more than the CT showed at this point, and said once they get it out and can run the pathology, well know where we stand. So please pray that she is healed and wont require chemo. We could also use peace about this situation. Shawna had breast cancer in 2001, so as they say, this isnt our first rodeo. But even so, its nothing you ever get used to. We could use prayer for provision as well, as our deductible is not pretty. We will make it through this. Thats how we roll!
