Urgently looking for: System Administrator - Linux 7.1 Job Description: 1-2 yrs of experience as Linux / Unix Admin The Linux Administrator role is to setup / manage the infrastructure for internal / external customers. Shall be working in UK shift. 7.2 Primary responsibilities include: Install / Manage Servers on Unix/Linux platform Installation and Maintenance of software applications -- Apache, IMAP, PHP, Perl, etc. Install / Manage the network and network applications Install / Manage backup and monitor applications of internal web based tools (e.g.: JIRA, Confluence) Setup and configure LDAP. Gather and analyze data/logs to investigate problems and determine root causes. Maintain and improve infrastructure security. Automate processes and repetitive tasks. Document policies and procedures. Provide systems support for software developers, marketing teams. Assist in debugging software applications. Create/modify users & their quota. Research and implement long term solutions and standards for various Operations issues. Flexible, able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Well organised and professional with a real proactive attitude 7.3 Qualifications and Skills: Good knowledge and experience of Linux System Administration (Redhat / Ubuntu) Good knowledge of servers (hardware configurations) DNS fundamentals, BIND Network fundamentals, including diagnostics with Linux tools Experience of working on NFS, Iptables & FTP services on Linux. Installing packages and adding patches Good knowledge and experience of Apache web server. Hands on shell scripting and/ or perl experience Performance analysis and troubleshooting Other Skills: Background working with North American product-development or BPO company in global time zone is preferred.
