Urhobos in Patani Hail DESOPADEC Commissioner, Ominimini Leadership of Unity LAGOS SEPTEMBER 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Urhobos indigenes in Patani Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State have poured encomium on Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Commissioner representing Ughelli North/Ethiope East LGA, Rt (Hon) Chief Christopher Ominimini Obiuwevbi for his leadership qualities in uniting the Urhobos and creating lasting peace within them. Speaking on behalf of Urhobo indigenes of Patani LGA during presentation of bus to HOSTCOM in that area, Rev Israel Enuteme said Ominimini had been able to unite the Urhobos in Patani with Urhobos in other parts of Delta State through the power of Delta State Governor, Delta Emmanuel Uduaghan. He added that such unity have giving them sense of belonging and peaceful co-existence. He appealed to Uduaghan to lift him up more than what he is today so that he could achieve more for humanity, just as he recalled that although others have occupied the same position Ominimini is occupying today his leadership of uniting the Urhobos and creating peace within them is exceptional. “DESOPADEC is living up to its expectation mostly with the gesture of the present Commissioner, Chief Christopher Ominimini Obuiwevbi. Others have occupied the same position but we have not seen his kind of administration of uniting the Urhobos. The bus he presenting to us today is a seed to show that Urhobos is one. He had brought us together through the power of Uduaghan. I am appealing to Uduaghan to lift him more than what he is presently,” he appealed. Enuteme who said the bus presented to them would be used judiciously for the progress of their community, lamented that they have been facing a lot of hardship due to marginalization and neglect as a result of being minority within the Ijaws, but quicky added that Ominimini through the assistant of Uduaghan had relieved them of their pains and sufferings. Speaking earlier, Ominimini Obiuwevbi said what they are doing in DESOPADEC is to ensure that all the Urhobos, irrespective of their local government area are united in order to move the state forward because Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan had shown that he is a detribalized Deltans. “Uduaghan is a man from Itsekiri and he is able to rule this state without rankle. Through the period he had been ruling this state, there was no ethnic rivalry. It is on this basis we are coordinating the Urhobo people round the HOST communities irrespective of the local government they come from to ensure that peace prevail in order to sustain the three points agenda of our amiable governor. “We Urhobos always take our brothers along. We have giving the Urhobos a bus like the one we are presenting today. We have brothers in Warri South and we carry them along. We have giving them a bus like this also. We have the Urhobos in Agbasa and in Okere in Warri South. We have our brother also in Patani local government area and it is under this basis we have giving them this bus.,” Ominimini disclosed. He said he gave them the vehicle to ensure that they reach out to the indigenes of the communities the way they have always been doing to ensure that there is unity and peace among them. “ If you have grievances please do not take up crisis, complain to the appropriate quarters and your grievances will be look into,” he advised.
