Us British folk seem to be losing more and more of our culture every day, giving in to the pressure to turn American. All the FB chatter is about Thanksgiving and Black Friday. both traditions from the US. Already, we have succumbed to bastardising Halloween - once a Pagan tradition - and turning into Halloween, all gaudy, brash and full of sweets. In the process, displacing the very British Guy Fawkes Night into an also-ran. Its a shame. Well be celebrating Independence Day next, then I really will know that the last one leaving has turned out the lights. Its OK to be British. We have an interesting history and, for such a small country, have made a huge contribution to the world. Im proud to be British. Yes, we have flaws but who the hell doesnt?! By all means, embrace our fellows from across the Pond but dont forget our own identity. His Lordship, the right honourable fancy pants, Zion ;-)
