Us Cherokee of today in the Oklahoma Nation.,. We (some anyway) - TopicsExpress

Us Cherokee of today in the Oklahoma Nation.,. We (some anyway) keep calling the old Nation The Homeland. Im from HERE... A descendent of new settlers and some old too. Know and love the Nation of today, and know and love the history of the Old. I feel a connection to the homeland sure, but this is where IT is. In Oklahoma... Where we are now... Where the bulk of us are... CN, or CNO, or UKB... We are all Cherokee... And we are here and now. The Homeland... Ive visited and mingled and danced there... and feel different. But... we are who we are... TODAY. We cannot live in and hold grudges and past blood laws. Makes me sad. This is 2014, not 1807 or 1837 or 1838 or 1907, or 1978 (ICWA), etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. I care about now and here and where we are at this moment, SERIOUSLY. Shouldnt we all??
