Use of glue is totally forbidden in restoration in Egypt since the dawn of time by ministerial decree. Moreover, the famous golden mask is protected since decades by a thick glass-walled frame that prevents air-born dust from deposition on its surfaces and to minimize human intervention. Consequently, I do not understand neither the statement of the museum head nor the so-called yearly-based restoration of that famous golden mask which is not only the belonging of Egypt but of all the humanity. Yesterday -23 Jan 2015 - I observed the residues of epoxy-type glue on the upper rear part of the beard specially on its right-hand side and that the wrong re-fixation of snapped beard has resulted in in a tilt of its vertical orientation to about 80 degrees angle before the observer in front of the masks face. In addition, the vertical tilt has increased far at the bottom of the beard far from the masks chest. Lighting by led bulbs inside the protect glass-box in unfortunate, and results in changing burnt bulbs by others that are not of the same shape and size and gives rise to unnecessary opening of the glass cover, whereas if the bulbs were kept outside the box they could be changed when dead with no need to open the glass cover. Furthermore, I found no guard present inside all the museum to prevent potential aggression against the treasures the museum has between its walls. I also observed dirt / dust everywhere, lake of restoration of the limestone tombs which are the real area for some mad people engrave their initials on by their small keys, no means to help the aged visitors to go up- and down stairs, shortage of indirection/info arrows and missing important details on the displayed monuments. The classic lazy governmental agents are certainly behind all these unbelievable and unaccepted deficiencies. Additionally, the just outside burnt building indicated who fragile and vulnerable to risks the museum is without high-end specialized protection staff. The burnt-building must be carefully removed, stone by stone, and a new area of the museum must be extended over its empty land to expose its treasures kept since many decades underground.
