Use to see Joe Willie all over Hempstead back in the late 60s and even had a couple of beers with him at Bills Meadowbrook restaurant one night next to Hofstras stadium circa 69-70. He would always say hello, and then one day he even remembered my name Then a few decades later, lo and behold, we sat at the table next to the Yankee great and his buddies at a New York City Italian restaurant on the east side and they were gracious enough to converse with us. Probably because we didnt ask them for autographs. Barbie and I had a long history of being at the right place at the right time and meeting pro athletes and celebrities all over the NYC metropolitan area. I always meant to write a list up of all the celebs we met and where and when. All were pretty casual meetings, but almost everyone we met was nice except one of the Baldwin brothers, who I had formerly liked.
