Use your instrument Psalm 71:22 (ERV) I will play the harp and praise you. My God, I will sing about your faithfulness. I will play songs on my lyre for the Holy One of Israel. Meditation Music is as old as, well, creation. You can trace the beginnings of the harp or lyre, for example, all the way back to Cain, one of the sons of Adam and Eve. His great-great-great-great grandson Jubal “was the father of people who play the harp and flute.” (Genesis 4:21 ERV). This was the same instrument on which King David excelled, and it was almost always used on joyful occasions such as that portrayed in today’s verse. You may not play an instrument, and if you do you may feel you don’t play it well enough for others to hear. But whether you use an instrument or your voice, you should always praise God’s faithfulness, especially at the “Holy One of Israel,” a name that occurs repeatedly in the book of Isaiah and is an almost lyrical description of your God. Close out this month by setting aside some special time today just to worship God. Recall all He has done to show His love for you over the past 28 days. Revel in His goodness! Prayer Lord, I do indeed praise You this day, and also ask that You would continue to move in the lives of those you’ve set apart to deliver God’s Word to the people of Africa. Amen.
