Useless tech tip of the day! How to get new Unicode 7.0 symbols like 🐿 (chipmunk) in Chrome on the Mac: 1. Visit users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/ and download the Symbola font zipfile, which includes the Unicode 7 symbols. Unzip the zip file. (Keep that Finder window open.) 2. Launch the Font Book application. Drag the file Symbola_hint.ttf from the Finder window to the Font Book window. Thatll install the font on your Mac. 3. Install the Advanced Font Settings extension from https://chrome.google/webstore/detail/advanced-font-settings/caclkomlalccbpcdllchkeecicepbmbm?hl=en 4. Settings -> Show advanced settings... -> Customize fonts... -> Advanced font settings 5. Select Symbols in the Script dropdown menu. 6. Select Symbola in the Standard and Serif dropdown menus. (You can select it everywhere if you like, since most symbols probably dont differ much between serif and sans-serif fonts.) 7. Click Apply settings at the bottom of the page. Now you should see the chipmunk in this post -- you dont even need to reload.
