Using the Computer to Reveal Story Carolyn Handler Miller Date: Friday, November 8, 2013 Time: 12:00 - 12:50 PM Place: Centennial Engineering Center 1041 This talk will explore the intersection between storytelling and computer technology and will be based on Carolyn’s experiences with using digital media to tell stories, starting in the early 1990s. It will cover such things as how playing the story reveals the story of the player, the impact of choice, and how a computer can be used to reveal a hidden story. Carolyn Handler Miller is one of the pioneering writers of digital media and the author of Digital Storytelling: A Creator’s Guide to Interactive Entertainment, now going into its third edition. She is an award-winning Hollywood script writer who migrated into digital media back in the early CD-ROM days and basically never looked back. Her work in digital media includes video games, smart toys, transmedia projects, virtual worlds, various projects for the Web, and, most recently, e-books.
