Using the word thug in a defense of police shooting of black men immediately invalidates the argument. Thug is code for black man--whether done consciously or not. It is (almost?) never used to describe anything other than a minority male; I have NEVER EVEN ONCE seen this word used (in all seriousness, rather than jokingly) to describe a white male. It is inseparably tied to a perspective that black men are more dangerous than white men. Therefore, the argument is based on a racist premise in itself. Oh, and if you use the term race card in your argument, then I read that as a refusal to recognize that race is pervasive in EVERY SINGLE social issue in America.
