Uttoxeter Leisure Centre Redevelopment Weekly Update: As another week passes the redevelopment project for Uttoxeter Leisure Centre continues to take strides towards completion. Contractors are all working at pace and there is a real excitement building towards this fantastic new centre. Efforts this week have focused on many different aspects of the project, including work on the new car park, fitness studio, reception and customer entrance and of course the amazing new gym. Externally the noticeable change is the completion of the large car park, which has had a new surface as well as new lighting and bay marking. This will improve the flow of the car park and the number of spaces available. In addition to this, external work has included the installation of anti-glaze bars to the pool hall windows and final roof capping. Internally the list of ongoing work is endless, all focused on delivering a brand new centre which will really stand out. Work has included the installation of a new wooden floor and mirrors in the fitness studio, and some attractive new lockers in the changing and corridor areas. Progress has also been made on the kitchen, and the reception / gym desks. One of the biggest and most exciting jobs this week was the safe delivery and installation of the new gym equipment. This was completed on Wednesday and Matrix Fitness has provided some fantastic bits of kit…we can’t wait to get going on it! Site Manager Steve had the following update: “We continue to work at pace on this project and every day we take another step towards delivering this fantastic new centre back to the local community. The range of contractors working on the project now is vast, with efforts pouring into the various areas across the facility”. “This week we have seen the successful completion of the new car park surface, with new lighting and bay marking also included. In addition we have completed the render on the main building and now turn to the plant room to complete the external work”. “Internally the leisure centre had its delivery of new gym kit which has transformed the previously empty large room. Also inside we have started to bring the pool plant system up to speed and test other systems such as lighting, sound and heating”. “Customer lockers and a new fitness studio floor installation have also started this week, and will be completed over the next couple of days. Next week will see a final push towards completion, with the aim to get the building ready to hand back to the client”. The project continues to run to plan and we look forward to bringing you further updates and pictures soon. Check out the latest pictures of the redevelopment.
