VACANCY - Apprenticeships - Newmarket Just finished A-levels? Don’t know what to do next? Are you curious about science? Then you might like this…… Advanced Laboratory Technician Apprenticeships at LGC LGC is an international life sciences measurement and testing company, employing about 1800 people worldwide. In Cambridgeshire, LGC have a site based in Fordham, near Newmarket employing about 250 people, many young scientists embarking on their first job in the scientific industry. As for what we do, our analytical science can take two forms – looking for a needle in a haystack or measuring a given needle as precisely as possible. Within the sport testing side of the business, samples are screened for around 2000 banned substances, with no prior knowledge whether the banned substances are there or not. In the pharmaceutical side of the business, samples are analysed where a potential new drug is being investigated. In both sides of the business we require knowledge of chemistry, biology and biochemistry to understand the requirements of our customers and to interpret the results of our analysis. This is a permanent position which will allow successful candidates to develop a wide range of laboratory skills via work experience, further education and “in house” training. For 1 day a week, training will be provided on site to attain a BTEC level 4 in Applied Science. For the remaining 4 days each week, successful candidates will work alongside our scientists. Ideal candidates will be good team players, who are keen to learn, willing to help others and have a genuine desire to develop their scientific skills. To apply please email your CV and covering letter to victoria.mack@lgcgroup.
