VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT UNOPS plays a critical role in providing management services for our life-saving, peace building, humanitarian and Development Operations. I have seen many examples of how these activities help suffering people in troubled parts of the world Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General UNOPS helps its partners in the United Nations System meet the world’s needs for building peace, recovering from disaster, and creating sustainable development. UNOPS is known for its ability to implement complex projects in all types of environments around the globe. In Delta state, UNOPS is implementing The Niger Delta Job Creation and Conflict Prevention Initiative which aims at job creation through relevant skills acquisition for unemployed youths of the states. The project is within the State Governments Human Capital Development, Peace, Security and Job Creation agenda and is jointly funded by the Delta State Government, United Nations Development Project (UNDP) and Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC). This specific project covers a variety of sectors including training of beneficiaries in livelihood vocational skills development, job creation, mind-set change and conflict prevention initiatives. To achieve these objectives, UNOPS alongside the partners are have set up a model vocational training centre in Egbokodo, Warri, Delta State and would require the services of suitably qualified individuals for the following additional positions: 1. Catering and Hotel Management Course Instructor -Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-001 Key Responsibilities Individuals must demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field of discipline. Also, they must be able to: • Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs when necessary. • Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline. • Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments Qualification /Experience • Minimum of BA or B.Sc (Ed), BA, B.Sc or HND with PGDE, in the area required and relevant to the execution of duties and/or City and Guilds stage III • 5 years relevant working experience. 2. Medical officer Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-002 Key Responsibilities The Medical Officer is responsible for managing the various aspects of the health care facility in the centre. Qualification /Experience • A degree in Medicine from a recognised institution. • Not less than 3 years cognitive working experience 3. Accountant Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-003 Key Responsibilities The incumbent will monitor the Centres financial resources and track all financial transactions. Qualification /Experience • Minimum of BSc or HND qualification in Finance, Accounting or related field. 5 years working experience Professional qualification is an adde advantage 4. Staff Nurse Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/20004 Key Responsibilities The individual will provide support the medical centre in overseeing patient care. Qualification /Experience Minimum of BSc/N.R.N/N.R.M Nursing Minimum of 3 years workinexperience. Clerical Officers x 2 Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-005 Key Responsibilities Individual will provide clerical duties and secretarial support to various departments. Qualification /Experience • Senior School Certificate with 4 O level credits in one sitting including English and Mathematics. • 3 years relevant working experience 6. Porter Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-006 Key Responsibilities The individuals will provide general support to the Centre building and infrastructure. Qualification /Experience • First leaving school certificate • 3 years relevant working experience • Certificate of Medical fitness • An ex-constable Constable or experience in the Armed Forces is an added advantage 7. Cook Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-007 Key Responsibilities The individual will manage the kitchen, refectory and staff canteen. Qualification /Experience • First Leaving School Certificate • Relevant working experience 8. Motor Drivers x3 Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2014-008 Key Responsibilities The individual will be responsible for handling the transportation needs of the Centre. Qualification /Experience • First Leaving School Certificate • Valid Drivers Licence (Class C) and Trade Test I • Minimum of 2 years relevant working Experience Method of Application 1.
