VACANCY: Communication Officer: The International Committee of the Red Cross Harare Regional Delegation Deadline: 17 November 2014 (close of business) The International Committee of the Red Cross Harare Regional Delegation (Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe) invites applications from qualified Zimbabwean nationals for the position of: Communication Officer. Main responsibilities Tracks, analyses and reports on geo-political and socio-economic developments in countries under the purview of the Harare Regional Delegation and their implications for ICRCs operations; At request or own initiative prepares timely, relevant and accurate background briefs, policy analysis or carries of research on themes, issues or events of interest to the ICRC; Contributes to the development and testing of operational and beneficiary communication tools and products for the delegation; Develops and maintains contacts with actors of influence in civil society in countries under the purview of the Harare Regional Delegation to contribute to the attainment of operational and institutional objectives; Assists in the drafting of speeches and other publication communication tools as required; Conducts dissemination sessions with stakeholders as required facilitating the attainment of operational and institutional objectives. Qualifications & skills Undergraduate degree in Political Science, Law or Development Studies; Excellent communication skills; Very good analytical and writing skills; Proven capacity to analyse the geo-political and socio-economic environment; Experience in preparing background briefs, reports and in-depth research; Experience as a trainer or in capacity building is an asset; Ability to work effectively under limited supervision or in a team environment; Fluent in written and spoken English and at least one local language; Fluent in written and spoken Portuguese; 4 years work experience in a similar field To apply: Complete applications (CV, letter of motivation, copies of diplomas and certificates, references) should be submitted to: The Administrator, 9 Downie Avenue, Belgravia Harare.
