VACANCY Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator School of the Built EnvironmentFaculty of Engineering, the Built Environment & Information Technology(Contract January – December 2014) This is a year contract post within the NMMU. The purpose of this post is to promote and market the School of the Built Environment and its programmes among identified internal and external target markets, supportive to the strategic institutional marketing plan and in collaboration with Marketing and Corporate Relations. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • To compile information about the School of the Built Environment and its programmes for publication in electronic and print media;· To manage the social media platforms used by the School of the Built Environment;• To communicate with learners, students and alumni on a regular basis via print and electronic media;• To organize events for the School of the Built Environment;· To assist with the organisation of the School of the Built Environment’s outreach projects;• To handle general enquiries at the School of the Built Environment reception;· To perform general administrative duties as requested. CORE COMPETENCIES: • Knowledge of and experience in the application of marketing and public relations principles;· Knowledge and experience in managing social media platforms;• Good project management, organizing, and time management skills;• Excellent interpersonal skills;• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;• A strong customer focused orientation;· Advanced computer literacy skills in MS Office software packages;· Strong administrative skills and,· Good photographic skills. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • A relevant M+3 qualification in Marketing or Public Relations.• At least one year’s experience in marketing or public relations.• A valid code 08 driver’s license and own transport.· Must be able to work after hours and on weekends.
