Also, I promise you on my honor, if during my term of office does not improve the standard of living in Czechoslovakia, I will resign from office myself. In the future, in my opinion, must be defined the presidency. The President may not have as much power as it has today. For me it is not decisive with what words are associated with social security, but what they mean. I imagine that would be far greater than that provided what many call socialism. You may ask what kind of republic I dream of. I will answer you: The Republic of men, which serves man, and therefore has hope that man will serve it. For my third assignment I consider supporting everything that will lead to better status of children, old people, women, the sick, hard working, members of national minorities and all citizens. No one should have better food or hospital care just because they are powerful or rich, but it must be offered to those who need it most We are preparing economic reforms that will not bring social stress, unemployment, inflation and other problems, as some of you are worried about. Do not blame everything on the previous rulers not only because it would be untrue, but also because it could weaken our duty independently, freely, reasonably and quickly. We all want a Republic, which will carefully take care of it, so all the humiliating barriers between different social layers of Republic will be wiped out, which is not divided into slaves and masters. I am longing for such a republic more than anyone else. Our state should never be appendage or a poor relative of anyone else. While we must take much more from others we also must learn much more from them, but we have a long time to do as good as their equal partners who have something to offer. There are people who muddy the waters and panicking that it will be more expensive. Keep your eye on them! You ask with wonder, if the inflation or the price will increase? Many times and clearly the government said in its policy statement, including documents and other ministers in their press conferences that their effort is to make the transition from non-economy towards the economy peacefully, without the social aspects, without continuity of unemployment, without any social crises or the like. If the price moves back and forth cigarettes or something, that at this moment I do not know yet is an effort not to move anything, at least in the next few months. No gigantic price increases or even unemployment, as alarmists systematically spread, nothing like being prepared. Never again will not go into NATO. In my opinion, our country must not skimp on investment in education and culture ... too many times declared our intention to reform so that it does not lead to major shocks, big inflation, or even to a loss of basic social security, our economists must simply accept as a task which they were entered.
