VALIANT BOYS - Last in the V Bomber Force books trilogy. Message from Tony Blackman via the V-Force reunion group. This to let you and the V Force know that Valiant Boys, the last of the three V Bomber ‘Boy’ books will be available 10th November. I’ve done this last one with help of Anthony Wright with a foreword by MRAF Sir Mike Beetham. Details are on my web site [email protected] or grubstreet.co,uk The book is of a similar form to the other two books in that there are first hand accounts of Valiant operations from flight crew and ground crew and even the RAF Regiment at Malta. There is the first trip to New Zealand, atom bomb dropping in Australia and at Christmas Island and the Suez campaign. The Valiant was the first nuclear deterrent with QRAs and then the very important flight refuelling capability was introduced and developed. The Valiant was grounded in 1964 after it was discovered that most of the aircraft had cracks in their main spars and this fatigue issue is discussed together with an appendix on the radiation aspects of the atom bomb testing.
