VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY DIVINITY SCHOOL invites applications and nominations for the Cal Turner Chancellor’s Chair in Wesleyan Studies to be filled by a tenured (rank open) faculty member. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in both the Divinity program (M.Div. & M.T.S.), which prepares students for ministry and public leadership, and in the Graduate Department of Religion (M.A. & Ph.D.), which prepares students for teaching and research. The chair holder will be expected to provide leadership in relating the school to The United Methodist Church and in preparing lay and clergy for service in the local and global ministries of that church. An earned doctorate and an established record of scholarly research and publication are required.While the area is open, we prefer a field of study closely related to history, theology, or global Christianity and the Methodist movement. Underrepresented persons with regards to gender, race, and ethnicity and/or persons who represent international contexts are encouraged to apply. Highly desirable attributes include: ability to oversee doctoral programming and study, a past record of teaching in Wesleyan studies, and conference standing in The United Methodist Church. The search committee will begin reviewing applications November 1, 2014 and continue until the position is filled.
