VBL Badge of Merit: MELINA BENGER (me!) I have been Musical Director of our Croydon Brass Band for 12 years now. My family history with the band goes back to before I was born though! In my time as MD, I have been very fortunate to have great support from my band members, and my family. My journey with the band has been amazing. Together we have grown, improved, taken on new challenges, had lots of fun and made wonderful friends. I grew up in community bands, thanks to my father, Doug Morison, and I am thankful that my own children have the same opportunity. Banding is a wonderful life, and I continue to encourage all people, especially our younger members, to stick with it. If you do, you will have a great time, make life long friendships - and never be short of friends or fun things to do! Nothing I do for the band is a chore, because I see the great contribution that we are all making together, to the people of our communities. I am honoured to receive this award. Thank you to my fabulous Band, and the VBL.
