VERDICT: Johnson - “We got the result we deserved” Wingers goals earn Harriers victory at Dartford. Marvin Johnson praised Harriers’ resilience after he scored twice to help his side come from behind to beat Dartford on Sunday. Johnson, who brought his goalscoring tally into double figures with his late brace at Princes Park, talked through his goals as he struck two in six minutes to seal three points for Harriers. “We didn’t have the best start and conceded a very early goal, which should have been avoided, but we kept digging,” he said. “We dug deep for 90 minutes, as you saw against Forest Green when we tried to get back into the game. “Unfortunately we lost that one but against Dartford we didn’t stop and we didn’t let one goal drag us down - we kept going and got the result we deserved. “I was put up front and [for the first goal] I thought I’m just going to gamble on Jamie Spencer winning the ball,” Johnson added. “Fortunately he did win it and I was there to finish it off. “For the second one it came through again from Spencer; I thought ‘I’m in the box so I’m going to shoot,’ and it was a good strike which beat the ‘keeper.” The winger had earlier admitted that he had aimed at the beginning of the campaign to score 10 goals for Harriers overall this season, a target which he must now readjust having achieved it already. “I’m going to have to have a think about that [a new target] now,” Johnson smiled. “At the start of the season you’d think, as a wide man, 10 goals and a few assists should do it. “I’ve got 10 goals at the moment but I’m going to push on again. “I’ve got my head down and I’m working hard - sometimes the games don’t go for me but even if I work hard for 90 minutes, I feel a bit better afterwards. “I’m getting more involved with the lads and trying to be more of a leader, like experienced players such as Kyle Storer, Nicho and Reidy. “I’m trying to help out, learn from them and influence games. “I’m showing people what I can do, which I used to shy away from. “Before I would play my ability down, whereas now I’m believing in myself and doing what I can do.” Johnson also responded briefly to speculation about his future, adding: “I’m here right now, I’m playing well and enjoying my football - and that’s what I’m going to continue doing.”
