VERY URGENT: PLEASE SHARE! Mother cat with BROKEN LEG needs surgery - Maple needs a Christmas miracle!. *** We know we just did an appeal for another injured animal a mere few days ago, and we hate to have to ask the public for help again. However, we cant turn our backs on this cat - if we cant raise the money for Maples surgery, she will HAVE TO BE EUTHANIZED, AS HER FAMILY HAS NO MONEY FOR VET CARE. We have to at least try. MAPLE’S STORY The message ended with “Please call me. Please hurry. “ Can you imagine your pet being seriously injured, and then helplessly having to WATCH THEM SUFFER BECAUSE OF LACK OF MONEY to rush them to the doctor? It’s every animal lover’s nightmare. Unfortunately, it’s a nightmare that Maple’s family was going through last night, which is why Maple’s mom put aside her pride, and reached out to HC, begging for help for Maple. This was about eleven p.m. Maple had been injured around 9 p.m., but every clinic they called explained that owing to the cost of x-rays and emergency fees, Maples family was looking at $400 + to have her seen last night, which may as well be $4000 to them. My heart sank when I read Maples moms message. As many of you know, Heavenly Creatures just finished doing an appeal for an injured dog, Jesse, and I wasn’t sure we could do another one so soon – we’re more than run off our feet as it is, and we also don’t want to wear our supporters out. But I knew this cat was suffering, that she likely had a broken leg, and DESPERATELY NEEDED PAIN KILLERS, so what was I to do? I couldn’t very well go to sleep knowing there was a nursing mother cat somewhere in our city lying around in pain with a twisted up, possibly broken leg, and no pain relief because of lack of money. I told her to take Maple to the vet clinic for pain relief and assessment, and HC would absorb the cost. Maple was at the clinic by midnight, and by twelve-thirty, her vet was calling me to confirm that she had a broken leg that required surgery; she thinks a plate will have to be put in to the tune of $2500-$3000, and that doesnt include the cost of hospitalization, x-rays, and emergency fees. Maple was hospitalized last night, and started on pain meds, and antibiotics. They need to do her surgery soon, so that her leg doesnt start healing the wrong way, but we cant give them the go ahead until if and when the money is raised. Maples family has no hope of coming up with that kind of money on their own. Maples mom explained to me that they are a very young couple with two toddlers; she is home with the children, and as Maples dad was just laid off, Christmas was already shaping up to be a tough one. Please give, so that Maple can live! There is a two-year-old in the home that cuddles with her daily (Maple reportedly snuggles up in his lap, and they watch Bubble Guppies together), and Maples moms birthday is Christmas day - what an awful Christmas and birthday she will have if her family has to lose their pet over money. Please help us save sweet Maple – she shouldn’t have to DIE over lack of money - Jessica Rendell President, HC HOW TO HELP US HELP MAPLE Owing to how insanely busy we are at the moment, wed prefer if people donated solely through the vet clinic for Maple. We dont think well have the time to deal with accepting E-transfers. If you arent able to donate through the vet clinic, please try Paypal: heavenlycreatures.ca/donate.asp
