VET REPORT For Chico. Where we started: We doubt Chico has ever had vet care. He was dumped at the pound with a rope tied to his collar, heart worm positive with an ear infection so severe that he was mistaken for being deaf, itching, stinking and missing more than half of his hair. His owners should have had criminal charges filed against them. Instead, Chico, who had done no wrong, was immediately placed on death row where he was refused by all other rescues. Had it not been for the Pound Pals village of fosters, transporters, volunteers and donors, chico would have been killed after 10 years of enduring horrible living conditions. Where we are: Todays vet visit was extremely in depth and included two separate blood panel tests and a thyroid test. I sat with Chico while his ears were cleaned. The were bleeding. One was swollen shut. The vet tech couldnt get a Q-tip in it. I thought how painful but Chico just sat there. Then the vet took a razor blade and scrapped off a layer of skin. I flinched but Chico just sat there. He was poked and proded from end to end and sweet little Chico just sat there. Where we need to be: We have a long road ahead of us. All of Chicos donations (and then some) were used today to cover his initial vet visit. He left with a large bag of medications today and will return in two weeks for a follow up. He will stay in boarding for three weeks (@ $12 a day) and he will start his heartworm treatment in two weeks. Once all that is done, Chico will need to be neutered. He has a lot of personality and should have several years to enjoy a life of love and comfort but we need your help to get him all the way home. Please chip in a few dollars and share.
