Facet-to-face, hand-to hand, bayonet-to-bayonet, bullet-for-bullet. He, along with members of his Company, received the French Fourragère of the Croix de guerre, for acts of heroism involving combat with enemy forces. ~ DR. FRANK D. NEWGARD (right photo) - World War II veteran, US Navy, neck-deep in naval warfare on the high seas of the Pacific, personally and physically engaged in many horrific naval battles combating enemy battleships, destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarines, bombers, fighter planes, kamikaze attacks/hits, unfathomable carnage, and the fight-to-the-last-man attitude that comes with knowing if your ship goes down, so do you and your mates THEIR STORY IS THEIR LEGACY.
