VFA is vital part of US military aggression: The killing of Jennifer Laude by United States (US) Marine Scott Pemberton has raised questions regarding the Visiting Forces Agreements (VFA) between the US and the Philippines. The VFA, also called a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by the US, defines the framework under which US troops operate in the Philippines especially the extent to which domestic laws apply to the US personnel. The US has SOFAs with at least 121 countries and the most important issue they address is the exercise of foreign criminal jurisdiction over US troops. SOFAs are essential for enabling US military deployments overseas and are a vital part of US military aggression against tens of millions of civilians around the world.
