VFL athlete Max Hayes working hard on his in season conditioning - TopicsExpress

VFL athlete Max Hayes working hard on his in season conditioning work with the emphasis being on upper body and unloading his legs (cross training). We place a big emphasis on in season maintainence of strength which compliments athletes power, speed, agility, work capacity and decreases their chance of soft tissue injuries. If training stimulus is decreased ie strength training is stopped, power, speed and agility is all decreased leading to regression of athletic potential and athletic performance. If you are not training strength you are losing strength, hence the importance placed upon strength in season for athletic performance. Conditioning work needs to be carefully monitored to minimise over training but also overuse injuries. Info@woodfordssc or PM. Athletes Victoria
