VFW TEAMS UP WITH CERNER TO HOST VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR Current and former military, spouses invited to showcase talent KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 22, 2015) —The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq: CERN) have joined together to provide career-seeking veterans, service members and military spouses the opportunity to connect with current openings at Cerner at the Cerner - VFW Virtual Career Fair, February 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST). Kansas City-based Cerner is at the intersection of two fast-growing industries: technology and health care. It is seeking talent with the ability to drive change through the use of technology, offering a wide variety of positions to include system engineers, technical support analysts, implementation consultants, nurses and a variety of operational roles. The Cerner – VFW Virtual Career Fair is open exclusively to current and former military, as well as their spouses. Participants are strongly encouraged to register at cernervfwvirtual/registration. Individuals interested in career opportunities, but unable to attend the event should proceed with registration as the Cerner recruiting team will review each submission received. “We’re pleased to join Cerner in co-hosting this event,” said VFW National Commander John W. Stroud, a retired Air Force veteran. “Today’s job market is tough. We want to provide every opportunity for our service members and veterans to succeed in their careers, and working on a large-scale hiring initiative with a company that truly appreciates the skillsets and dedication that our veterans possess certainly provides a great one.” The event is the VFW’s latest endeavor in its efforts to foster career success among veterans and ensure a successful transition after separating from military service. Cerner currently employs hundreds of current and former service members. “Cerner is committed to veterans who have selflessly served our country and we recognize the value they bring to this company,” said Zane Burke, president, Cerner. “It is the right and smart thing to do for these talented, motivated and dedicated men and women. They have the skills to make a difference in the health care industry.” Cerner will seek candidates to fill positions in three main areas of focus: technology, clinical experience and business operations. In the field of technology, candidates can apply for opportunities in development, deployment, and managed services of cutting edge systems. Available positions include system and network engineers, technology architects, technical project managers, software development and software design. Cerner believes clinical experience is key to developing best in class solutions for hospitals, physician offices, pharmacies and community health management. Therefore, it hires experts in all fields of medicine to assist in the design of solutions, developing clinical outcomes, and providing care at one of its many employer clinics. Qualified veterans who have a background in providing medical can apply for opportunities as physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and medical technicians. Business Operations is also a critical piece to success at Cerner. In addition to consulting openings it will seek qualified candidates to fulfill operations roles in the areas of human resources, finance, accounting, marketing, legal, properties, early childhood education and security.
