VICS TO THE RESCUE: When Taye Drum artist, Matt Walker, needed a kit for a couple of important gigs downtown, he knew there was only one place to call - Vics! Chicago native Matt Walker has been busy touring with Morrissey. While Matt has some time off, hes been active with his own project, Sons of the Silent Age, a David Bowie tribute band. Matt was scheduled to film a special show with Sons of the Silent Age at JBTV studios on Sunday, September 21st, as well as perform on the following Tuesday at Daley Plaza. Because Matts current drum set is in storage with all of the Morrissey tour gear, Vic personally delivered and set up a Taye Studio Maple kit, complete with a couple of concert toms, right to the JBTV studios and to Daley Plaza for both of Matts gigs. The Taye kit provided the perfect look and sound for all the classic 70s and 80s Bowie material the band performs, like Young Americans, Fame, Lets Dance, Fashion, and of course, Sons of the Silent Age. In addition to provided Matts kit, Vics also provided some additional toms for the groups percussionist. Matts concert with Sons of the Silent Age on September 23rd at Daley Plaza was part of a kick off event celebrating the opening day of a new David Bowie exhibit at The Museum of Contemporary Art called David Bowie Is. As usual, Sons of the Silent Age did an amazing job of authentically capturing both the spirit and sound of David Bowie. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel even declared that day David Bowie Day. About Matt Walker: Over the years, Matt Walker has played with artists like Filter, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cupcakes, The Most Dangerous Race, Ashtar Command, Impossible Recording Machine, Adam Ant, Garbage, Rick Ocasek, Veruca Salt, and Morrissey. When hes not busy touring and performing, he occupies his time recording, composing, and producing music for various projects.
