VICTORIAN STREET STOCK SERIES LOCKS IN DATES by Dean Thompson | In Action photos Victoria, AU | Aug. 12, 2014 - In this speedway off season a priority of DMT Sports Media Promotions was to establish a Street Stock series in Victoria that can follow in the foot steps of the great MJS series in South Australia & confirmation can now be made that a five round series is locked in for this coming summer with Darlington Speedway, Rosedale Speedway, Sonic Speedway Swan Hill, Wahgunyah Speedway & Western Speedway, Hamilton confirmed as the inaugural five venues to get right behind the series. The former Street Stock Association of Victoria ran a series at various venues that used to travel all around the state with the best drivers thrilling speedway sedan fans. Street Stock competitors will have increased opportunity to compete with the best drivers testing themselves on a variety of venues & surfaces. The series gets under way at Mid Western Speedway ran by the Mortlake Speedway Club on November the 15th with a 40 lap extravaganza as drivers compete to win the ‘Stocky Stampede’ on the testing little bullring. The long Rosedale Speedway then hosts the next event ‘Street Stock East Challenge’ on December the 6th bringing top quality Street Stock racing back to Gippsland where Standard Saloon racing has a strangle hold in the area. Rosedale formerly held a Victorian state title for Street Stocks and Polly Perkins a former Street Stock competitor and Rosedale identity is looking forward to having ‘Stocky’s’ back again. The Christmas holidays then provides a double header weekend starting with the ‘Mallee Masters’ on the 27th of December at Sonic Speedway Swan Hill before saddling up over night to head over the New South Wales border for a few hours before crossing back into Victoria to land in Wahgunyah for the ‘Murray River Rumble’ paying $1500- to win on the 28th of December on a massive 640 metre plus long race track. Finally the series closes out at Western Speedway, Hamilton on Sunday the 18th of January for the ‘Western Grand in the Hand’ on the final night of the Victorian Junior Sedan title weekend. The track is wicked quick and sure to produce a bonza final event for the series top drivers. Already interest in competing in all or most of the series has come forward from multiple national champion Brad McClure, current national back to back champion Robbie Faux, Jason Duell from South Australia & even from as far as Western Australia. Information will now come out at regular intervals in regards to what is going on with the series. The competitors will be informed of the dates and series details in order to lock in a regular group of racers that will go from venue to venue chasing the $1000 minimum win at each round of the series. Management of the series will be making calls for corporate support in the coming weeks with a $2000 winners cheque for the overall series win also a carrot to be dangled to attract other top drivers such as Mick Dann, Mick Clark, Lewis Clark, Brooke Ferguson, Anthony Beare & the Gartner brothers. Following along the lines of the Sprintcar Racing Association, the series hopes to put in place a random draw prize for any driver that finishes out side the top ten who competes at every round of the series to encourage drivers that may not have the ability or equipment of the lead teams, yet support the series for the fun it brings. Venues involved in the series will be encouraged to help make the event a highlight of their calendar with drivers voting at the end of the series on the best run round in order to award recognition to the leading event of the season. Any business who wishes to make a corporate support offer of cash or prizes can contact Dean Thompson at [email protected] or inbox on facebook to discuss your offer of support. As organizer of the series DMT Sports Media would like to publicly acknowledge the following people for their encouraging support. Brad McClure, Jason Duell & national champion Robbie Faux have been nothing but positive on social media with everything that has been organised and I thank them all very much & look forward to seeing them compete throughout the season.
