VIDEO 72: When most people see the title, Know Your Enemy it is almost a natural human response in our head to instinctively rename this series This Is Who You Should Hate. No way, Jose!!!! Jesus said that we should love our enemy as we love ourselves! The point of this series is for us learn how to distinguish light from darkness, and to understand the subtle and crafty ways that the devil gradually pulls us away from Jesus as the center. Sinful rebellion isnt drinking blood and eating our young. It is allowing the lines of absolute truth to be blurred and living in shades of gray, instead of the true light and daily relational conformity into the image of Jesus Christ! Discernment- being able to identify subtle deceptions and distortions that seek to confuse us, make us doubt, or lose focus as Jesus Christ the only truth, the only way and the only life. Discipleship- We are not studying in order to impress or dump knowledge on those we come in contact with. Just like a pilot learns about meteorology, wind speeds, and the mechanics of a plane, all he has to do is fly allowing his knowledge to assist in navigating problems and storms. With a firm foundation in the Word and open eyes to see the spiritual battle we are in, the Holy Spirit will help us identify and reclaim enemy territory (through love) as we become the hands and feet of Jesus! 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22(NLT) Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. Job 36:12 (ESV) 12 But if they do not listen, they perish by the sword and die without knowledge. Hosea 4:6 ESV 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. 1 Peter 5:8 Tells us to STAY ALERT! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. John 10:10 The thiefs purpose is to kill steal and destroy.
