VIDEO: Pieter Schelte Reaches Rotterdam. The world’s largest vessel Pieter Schelte, owned by Allseas, has arrived in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The behemoth crane vessel has arrived from South Korea to Rotterdam for final outfitting. The giant vessel will be moved to Alexiahaven where a berth has been specially designed and dredged for the purpose, the Maasvlakte 2. The final outfitting at the berth will include installation of 65-meter long beams of the topside lift system. “With a draft of 24m the world’s biggest vessel can easily enter the Port of Rotterdam, 24/7,” the Port of Rotterdam said in a tweet commenting on the arrival of the vessel. When completed, Pieter Schelte will have a topsides lift capacity of 48,000 t and a jacket lift capacity of 25,000 t. Her pipelay tension capacity will be 2,000 t, doubling the capacity of Allseas’ Solitaire and thereby surpassing her as the world’s largest pipelay vessel. The vessel is expected to be ready for offshore operations early this year. The giant catamaran is intended to install and remove decommissioned topsides and jackets of large offshore oil and gas platforms in the North Sea with a single lift. Posted by KNMI/Atmojo nur
