VIDEO: Selena Gomez reveals why fame does not bring happiness in an interview with eTalk Selena performed yesterday, 23 the educational event We Day Vancouver and, backstage, gave an interview on eTalk! In it, the actress and singer talks about the impact of fame, cyberbullying, and the true purpose of being a celebrity. check out: https://youtube/watch?v=OhnzypTovDI Selena: I think because we live in a place where everything is a little empty. Its all about clicks of the paparazzi, social connections. Everything is about things a little more glamorous. And when you have all these things ... That does not mean happiness. I can speak for myself. Im very blessed, and I end up giving to others and helping other people ... Thats why I love the We Day.s Not just about me. And thats what I think is important. So, I hope, and Im happy that JLo and others were there, everyone can be part of it because people come to know, thats what I prefer to do. Interviewer: So, we talked about social media and has a flip side to this. And you talk about it, is something that many people experience, and celebrities also cyberbullying. Youve been through this before. And it seems that the naturalness of being a celebrity is far more invasive than it ever was, because, well, I mean something terrible for you, I had your email address. How do you handle it all, it seems to be exhaustive. And, more than exhausting, mentally and emotionally is suffocating. Selena: Yes, it is! And I have all the social networks, there are five years or so, Ive had Twitter and even Myspace. So, it affects you. When you read things like this, I am still a young woman, then I get emotional and frustrated. People think that just because they are behind a computer screen, can say whatever they want. And what I always say, its just keep going. I constantly move on, because if I did, what I show for my fans? If I let it affect me, mean that I am not strong enough for them. So I try to focus only on love, which is difficult ... Interviewer: Honestly, this sounds very difficult. Selena: Because youre like, This person likes me, but not this, why? They do not know me, I know me and understand me. But, no, this is exhausting and never, will never make you happy. Interviewer: It sounds exhausting. Selena: I think I have a purpose. I think I have a voice for this generation, and I really want to show these girls, my fans, that its okay to not be perfect all constantly. I do not want to feel that pressure. I feel that I was put in that place, so I can be that voice for these girls. And for myself, because they also save me the same way I try to save them. So for me ... I hope to continue doing this for as long as I can because its my job to shift the priority to the things that matter, and eventually will see where it takes me.
