He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem in the capital Tehran. Zarif said Iran has always supported the government and people of Syria and will continue to do so. On Sunday, Israeli aircraft pounded an area near Damascus International Airport and a smaller airport in the town of Dimas. Israeli troops are now reportedly on alert along the border with Lebanon, over fears of a military operation following the airstrikes in Syria.
