VIEWER QUESTION: How realistic is it for someone to shop at Costco in NYC? Someone who does not drive. Also, could you explain how big exactly a block is? MY ANSWER: Costco is not an easy place to shop if you do not have a car. However, it is not impossible no matter where you live. Yes there are only about 3 or 4 in NYC but you can easily get a ride from a friend, co-worker or take a cab to get home. I got rides from my brother when I had to go to Costco. If you dont meet any friends or peers at work with a car (which is almost impossible), you could opt for a cab. It is going to be a bit pricey but split the cost with some friends if you have to. The thing with Costco is that it is one of those places you wont be going to often because you will be stocking up. So the cab ride might be worth it in the end due to how much you can potentially save getting your items there versus regular stores/ supermarkets. Maybe. They usually say about 16-20 NYC blocks is equivalent to 1 mile or 1.6 kilometers. This is a rough estimate because blocks will vary slightly in size. Hopefully this helps. Not sure what measurements are used where you are.
