VINTAGE SIGN REVEALED | Alma WI A Selz Advertising Sign was revealed this week and can be seen at this time in historic Alma WI. It is just north of Shanty On Main and the Blue Door Inn. The Selz Royal Blue Shoes $3.50 sign is hand-painted tin on the north wall of 321 South Main Street, Alma WI. Selz shoes were manufactured from 1871 through the 1920s, first in Chicago and then in other factories around Illinois. The old J L STOHR Furniture Store and Funeral Homes building was purchased from Frank TRITSCH in 1905. The one-story addition to the north was just torn down in Almas National Historic District and was originally part of TESTER and SCHILLINGs first hardware store in Alma. When you live in a historic river town dating back to 1848, you never know what youll uncover! Short Bio of Morris Selzs Shoe Business encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/2842.html
