VIOLENCE IN EKITI STATE – PROTECTING POPULAR MANDATE When soon after his crushing defeat in the Ekiti State gubernatorial elections the out-going Governor, Mr. Kayode Fayemi, had purportedly ‘graciously conceded defeat’ to his nemesis, Mr. Ayo Fayose, I knew it was only a matter of time before the Machiavellian nature of the entity Mr. Fayemi represents (the All Progressives Congress), manifests their well ‘refined’ dubious and treacherous characteristics using the instrumentality of our (in)justice sector to thwart the wishes of the people. This belief had been based on previous gubernatorial elections where these same characters had manipulated the legal lsystem to surreptitiously take over the reins of authority in some States of the Nigerian federation. Clearly, in Ekiti State, in the incoming Governor, Ayo fayose, these guys have met their match - the present crisis unfolding in Ekiti is an effort to protect the wishes of the people freely expressed via the ballot box!
