VIRGIN AUSTRALIA UNVEILS NEW INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CLASS SEAT ON AIRBUS 330 AND BOEING 777 Virgin Australia announced today a major redesign of its Business Class and Premium Economy cabins on board its wide-body fleet. The redesign involves extensive changes to the layout in Business Class with an introduction of suite-style seating and the addition of a bar on the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft. Business Class suite seats will convert into an 80 inch lie-flat bed on board the trans-continental Airbus 330 and Boeing 777 used on long-haul international flights. The 1-2-1 configuration will provide passengers direct access to the aisle and maximum privacy. Passengers will also have the capacity to increase seat width while sleeping by an adjustable arm rest. Each Business Class suite will include a touch screen in-flight entertainment system, multiple lighting settings, new soft furnishings, and a unique tablet holder for your iPad or Android devices. Tangerine London led the industrial design of the new seats and cabins to create a totally new and premium look Business Class. British Aerospace is the manufacturer of the new Virgin Australia Business Class suite dubbed the ‘Super Diamond’. Virgin Australia Chief Executive Officer John Borghetti said: “Today marks a new era for our premium customer experience both domestically and internationally. We believe the sophisticated new suites will set a new standard in Business Class travel, not just in Australia but around the world … we are committed to maintaining a competitive advantage in customer experience in order to ensure that Virgin Australia is the number one choice for premium travellers.” The Business Class suites will roll out to Virgin Australia’s Airbus A330 fleet early 2015 with the first aircraft expected to be in service by March and the complete refit of the fleet by August. Roll out will commence on the Boeing 777 from November 2015 and be complete by early 2016. As part of the revamp Virgin Australia’s International Premium Economy will have reduced seating to give passengers three inches more legroom and a more exclusive experience.
