VISION - I Was Legally Blind at Birth I didn’t walk til I was about 18 months old, not because I couldn’t but because I didn’t know people were able to as I was legally blind in both eye. My vision (born a minus 16), then and now, has always been my achilles heel in life. I had THICK coke bottle glasses starting from age 2 right through to high school. “Four Eyes” became one of my labels. All through school, seeing the black board was a challenge as was reading, as my weak eyes would very quickly get tired. Poor grades followed thus another label. When technology progressed, I got contact lenses and then came along laser eye surgery which I jumped at. Unfortunately it didn’t work well for me, I was one of the worst cases of FAILED laser eye surgery in the province. That was 15 years ago and since then I’ve had over 300 eye appointment with various doctors and optometrists, which has included cornea transplants, glaucoma and cataract surgeries. I’ve only got vision left in one eye which has been anything but stable. That form of vision loss hasn’t held me back in life as much as my inability to see the vision of myself and what I’m capable of as a human being. Playing small in life, the excuses to myself included being a poor farmer’s son, being born in a small city, not being smart enough and the excuses go on and on. My vision is on the road to recovery since enrolling and graduating from @Dov Baron’s #Authentic #Speaker Academy for #Leadership program. Where in your life is your vision in need of correction?
