VITAMINS FOR THE MIND by Ron Reynolds #3691 (Wednesday, November 26, 2014) Not Enough Training? If we’re going to do something we’ve not done before, we have to take some amount of time to ‘read the instructions’ on how to do it. I think it’s rather well understood by now that I’m very strong on a person having a clear understanding about the ‘why’ they’re involved in AdvoCare, and that if the ‘why’ is powerful, the ‘how’ will become rather automatic. That doesn’t mean that you can ignore the ‘how,’ it just means that the more answers about ‘how’ that a person feels they need, the less likely they’ll be to succeed, because they tend to want to know everything there is about AdvoCare before they’ll allow themselves to really get serious. Now, among the very best places you’re going to find for the purpose of learning about the ‘how’ is the AdvoCare website, because you can log onto The Training Room from anywhere you may be and anytime that you like, and the full array of subjects will be there waiting. But for some reason, there are a growing number of Distributors who feel it necessary that they create ‘webinars,’ conference calls, and special websites for their team members. There are so many of them, in fact, that people can easily spend every night of the week on some sort of training webinar. It seems that in one breath we’re saying “Your ‘why’ is at the core of what you need to focus on,” but in the next breath, we’re promoting this training call, or that webinar or some form of training event, each of which is ‘one you can’t afford to miss.’ As a personal observation, if we spent as much time engaged in ‘eyeball to eyeball and belly to belly conversation’ with someone instead of watching a webinar or on a conference call, our growth rate would explode even more than it has. Getting caught up in the promotion of high-tech events isn’t something that Charlie Ragus would have condoned and it’s not something that Richard and Sherry feel strong about either; it can lead to a large number of well trained but mostly unproductive Distributors who have mistaken motion for progress, and who think they have all of the answers even before anyone has asked the first question; they have the answers but they’ve not taken the time to define their reasons for working the business. AdvoCare has already professionally produced an extraordinary library of subjects in which the very best ‘presenters’ – both among the Distributor base and the corporate staff – provide the highest quality of training possible. We all need to exercise care in just how much demand we place upon Distributors, because if the training is too long and too frequent, there can be precious little time left for the ‘well educated’ Distributors to perform the work that really needs to be done, so focus on ‘why’ you have put yourself into the game, and that will drive you into activity like no webinar ever can. The views expressed on this post are those of Ron Reynolds and do not necessarily reflect the views of AdvoCare.
